“Gopher” is enthusiastic and evangelistic about the modding process and really makes it fun to walk through.Įven better he shows you how to easily work with NMM in the game, something that translates well to anyone modding Skyrim, FNV, etc. The quality is professional level, in other words this is no snuffling cheetos-and-hand-lotion caked 15 year old. He has this rich, mellifluous UK accent (maybe Northern Britain, or Scotland?), and it’s a joy to watch these and listen to him talk (my girlfriend: “I love the way he says ‘stutter’”). The best part is that “Gopher” is really, really good at teaching this stuff. The presentation is crystal clear, he makes good choices (I think, so far) with the mods he chooses to use, and explains (and shows) why and how he’s doing what he’s doing with each mod. The videos are meant to be watched and followed along with sequentially, with each one running between 15 and 50 minutes in length.

#Gopher fallout 3 mods mod
Right now we’re up to 9 videos, all with hi-def presentation, which walk you step by step through not only the technical bits of the mod process, but also a lot of the “how” and “why” of things.

They’re the work of a fellow named Gopher, and Gopher freaking rocks. So I did and so let me recommend them unconditionally. Once I got to the Nexus site for Fallout 3, I noticed on the front page a series of “How to mod” videos. Plus also too: there’s the new Nexus Mod Manager, which bravely attempts to pre-empt those who have gotten used to the Fallout Mod Manager, or the Oblivion Mod Manager, etc. In addition, as fluid as the modding community can be, folks are still pumping out new Fallout 3 mods. As an owner of the original game (never finished, of course), it was too good a deal to pass up at that price for all the DLC included…plus having it on Steam and not having to hunt up discs and then a CD-key? Yes please.Īnd so once I got it installed, like any good gamer with Bethesda games I first played around with Jason McCullough’s wonderful Fallout 3 modding thing posted here…but as I well know, keeping that kind of list of mods up to date is almost a fulltime job, and as I expected many of those mods have gone past their sell by date. Last week during the Steam sale I nabbed the Fallout 3 GOTY edition for 5 bucks.
